Father Can’t You See I’m Burning takes place in a house, an ordinary house, somewhere in Cambridge.

It is site-specific, multi-focal and intimate, taking place in all areas of the House simultaneously: in bedrooms, on landings, through windows, behind closed doors. You choose where to go, what to see, what to hear.

Father Can’t You See I’m Burning takes its title from Freud – the words are whispered by a dead child, who appears to hear father in a dream.

If we call up the dead, who will answer?

The performance explores our relationship with the dead, our desire to have them restored to us, the act of mourning, the elusive nature of memory adn the terrifying phenomenon of ghost-possession.

Father Can’t You See I’m Burning is essential viewing for those interested in the most exciting developments in contemporary theatre.
